Bethan and Kate met at university and were inspired to set up HotTea Mama as they looked for natural ways to support their bodies through the 'joys' of womanhood.
Kate had 2 babies in the space of a year and had the idea for HotTea Mama when she was looking for ways to naturally support herself with some of the more challenging aspects of pregnancy & motherhood.
Luckily Bethan was the first non-Chinese person to get a degree in Tea Science from the University of Agriculture and Forestry in Fujian, after more than 15 years of working as a tea buyer and blender.
Using their shared experiences and Bethan's tea knowledge, they created a range of teas for pregnancy and motherhood, and have since extended this to cover periods and menopause. Key issues we all face, and where a cup of the right tea, can be a great comfort.
Their Mission
They want to support women through the more challenging aspects of their lives, one cup at a time.
Some of the common experiences we share - PMS, pregnancy, breastfeeding, motherhood, perimenopause and post menopause, have a long history of natural herbs, flowers and teas, being used to bring comfort to women.
From raspberry leaf for birth preparation, fenugreek for breastfeeding, gingko biloba for mood moderation or liquorice root for hot flushes....for millennia women have filled their cups with specific ingredients when they needed support.
And some scientific research is now beginning to look at why these natural plants have been used in this way and suggests traditional use of certain herbs was well founded.
They've looked at both the historical use and modern research, to choose whole leaf, aromatic and flavourful herbs, that make delicious blends...blends which aim to have benefits!
And they want anyone in need, to take a moment with a cup of our tea - to feel ready to take on the challenges of womanhood, one cup at a time.
